TANJUNG MALIM: Into the Woods, a Broadway musical theatre production renowned for its fusion of fairy tales and unique storytelling, will soon meet theatre enthusiasts at Bitara Siswa, Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI).

To be staged on 27 December at 8.30 p.m., this production is a major undertaking by Semester 3 Bachelor of Theatre students from the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts (FMSP), UPSI.
Titled “Woods”, this musical theatre production weaves together the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales, exploring the consequences of the characters’ desires and quests.
The theatre’s Publicity Manager, Dhania Arina, said that this imaginative and magical musical production is an adaptation of the original script “Into the Woods”.

With creative input from Farah Mahadi as the adaptation director and Nik Muiz as the main director, the production was developed through the APC3143 Musical Theatre course under the guidance of lecturer Nawfal Zamri.
“Woods takes audiences on a journey into a mysterious forest filled with surprises, emotions, and lessons.
“The combination of music, acting, dance, and storytelling creates a fantasy atmosphere that brings various classic fairy tales and well-known characters to life in a magical way.
“Every element of this production, including acting, choreography, technical aspects, costumes, makeup, and publicity, is presented with full creativity by the UPSI theatre students involved in this staging,” she said.
Dhania added that the musical theatre performance offers audiences the opportunity to personally experience the magic of the enchanted world that will grace the theatre stage.
“Come and witness and feel the magic of the world of Woods, which will surely leave a lasting impression,” she said.
