New Tun Abdul Razak Bridge to Be Completed Next January

By Aida Aziz

IPOH: The replacement of the new Tun Abdul Razak Bridge near Buntong is expected to be fully completed in the first or second week of January next year.

Buntong State Assemblyman Thulsi Manogaran said the RM1.75 million project began on 30 October to improve comfort and ensure the safety of road users.

She added that the road beneath the bridge has been completely closed throughout the replacement process.

“The old bridge has been fully demolished, and the installation of 12 beams weighing 11 tonnes each was completed on 14 December.

“Construction works on the new concrete bridge will continue as planned. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the public.

“Alternative routes or diversions have been provided to ensure smooth traffic flow with the cooperation of the Ipoh City Council (MBI),” she said.

She explained that the bridge replacement was necessary as the structure had become dilapidated and was no longer suitable for public use.

“This replacement is also the result of public complaints, as the bridge is old, no longer structurally sound, and was not made of concrete.

“Therefore, we submitted an application and received an allocation from the state government for this project,” she added.

During this period, road users are advised to comply with warning signs, diversion guidelines, and instructions from on-duty officers.

Alternative routes have also been provided to reduce traffic congestion around the Buntong, Silibin, Ipoh city centre, Jalan Lahat, and Falim areas.
