by KT Leong

Pusat Jagaan Rumah Orang-Orang Tua (PKK) Simee Home for the Aged (CWS) Simee Care Centre, held their Annual Christmas Lunch Celebration today, both in celebration for the upcoming holidays as well as in celebration of its residents whose birthdays are in December.

5 senior residents, namely Ho Yew Wong (98 years old), Robert Goh (86 years old), Philominah (85 years old), Amy Chai (84 years old) and Govindaraj (73 years old), were celebrated in conjunction with the festive season.

Carollers sang such classics as Joy to the World as guests and visitors filled the hall for the annual lunch.

In his speech, Board of Management Chairman, Vincent Lee, noted that at present, the home has 35 residents, consisting of 20 males and 15 females, with the average age being 80 years old.

In 2025, the home had successfully implemented improvements for the comfort and safety of the residents, including installation of a new exhaust duct and exhaust fan for the kitchen, installation of an awning at the back of the kitchen, installation of casement windows at both dormitories, stainless-steel bird repellent mat spikes to discourage the intrusion of pigeons and the installation of solar lights, CCTW and aluminum doors.

The home also received full sponsorship in renovating the toilet and bathroom for both female and male dormitories, amounting to RM40,000.00 and food lockets for residents amounting to RM23,600.00.

The home, which houses seniors for free, depends entirely on public donations, and for the year of 2026, the home’s budget, inclusive of staff emolument, is projected to amount to RM799,000.00.

In order to raise funds for the home’s budget, one of their main fundraising activities will be a Photo hanging Program. Donations of RM5,000.00 to RM10,000.00 will be displayed at the dedicated Donor Recognition Wall at the community hall, while donations of RM100,000.00 will be displayed at the Honorary Donor Board at the Reception Area.

Both displays will serve as a lasting tribute to the kindness and compassion that drives the community.
