IPOH: Several public facility upgrade projects planned through allocations from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) within the Ipoh City Council (MBI) area have been successfully completed and implemented.
To review the developments, the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Ngar Kor Ming, conducted a working visit to Ipoh City.
The visit began with an inspection of the Jalan Medan Ipoh 6 upgrading project in Bandar Medan Ipoh, which has been fully completed.

The project involved the construction of pedestrian walkways using a concrete imprint concept, the planting of ornamental trees, and the reconstruction of road surfaces at a cost of RM792,028.
This new look enhances safety, comfort, and pedestrian flow, while also supporting the area’s function as a more organized, safe, and user-friendly public space.
During the visit, the minister announced the implementation of an upgrade project for the Bercham Public Market with an allocation of RM481,518.
The project includes the installation of a ceiling and resurfacing of parts of the market area.

It began on 10 December and is expected to be completed by 1 April 2026.
In line with the MADANI government’s aspiration to improve the quality of life of the people through the provision of more recreational spaces and public green areas, the minister also inspected the MADANI Recreational Park (TRM) project at Taman Tasek Jaya, Ipoh.
The project commenced on 29 November 2024, has a duration of 16 weeks, and involves a cost of RM450,000.
TRM Taman Tasek Jaya has been developed and upgraded with various facilities, including children’s playground equipment, outdoor gym exercise equipment, open plaza spaces, and park furniture such as benches and covered resting areas.
The project also involves upgrading pedestrian walkways and installing lighting systems to ensure comfort and safety for recreational and leisure activities.
The next locations visited were the Kampung Tawas Market upgrading project, as well as the acoustic panel installation project and related works at the Kampung Tawas Community Hall.
Meanwhile, in a statement to the media, the Minister of Housing and Local Government stressed that KPKT will remain committed to channeling allocations to support local authorities in upgrading and maintaining public facilities.
This includes public markets, recreational parks, and community halls, which are the backbone of the social and economic well-being of communities.
“The government is confident that the implementation of these projects will provide long-term benefits to the Ipoh City community and contribute towards a more comfortable, safe, and livable urban environment,” he said.
