LUMUT: A total of 1,350 students from around the Lumut parliamentary constituency benefited from the Back to School 2026 Programme, which provided contributions in the form of essential school supplies.
The assistance was contributed by the Ministry of Higher Education to help ease the financial burden on parents.


Of the total number of recipients, 900 students received aid at Dewan Merdeka, Manjung Municipal Council, 150 at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pangkalan TLDM Lumut, and 300 students on Pangkor Island.
Each selected student received a school bag as well as a voucher worth RM150 for the purchase of school supplies, which can be redeeed at Sakan Supermarket.
This assistance was greatly appreciated by parents, who now find it easier to prepare their children’s school necessities without having to worry about high expenses.
The Back to School 2026 Programme reflects the government’s concern and commitment to supporting the education agenda, particularly for those in need, which remains a priority.


Meanwhile, in his speech, the Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, emphasized the importance of education in life, as education can change the destiny of an individual and their family.
He said that knowledge is a long-term investment that will determine the future not only of individuals, but also of society and the nation.
“At the higher education level, I strongly encourage children to continue their studies as far as they are able.
“Today, educational opportunities are wide open with various pathways and options available.
“Success is not measured through a single pathway alone, but through perseverance, discipline, and the willingness to continue learning,” he said.
