SUNGAI SIPUT: Living with autism does not mean that a person’s future is dark and without hope.
On the contrary, if they are able to explore their talents and inner abilities, they can undoubtedly make an impact on the world.
Muhammad Rahimi Mohd Rohinuddin, 20, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 1, is one such example of an individual who refuses to give up on pursuing knowledge.

He is among the 25 new students who enrolled at Sungai Siput Community College (KKSS) for the January 2026 intake.
His determination to continue his studies was strongly influenced by the support and encouragement of his parents, leading him to enroll in the Automotive Technology Certificate Programme at the college.
Rahimi was previously a student at Bukit Beruang Community College in Melaka, but had to continue his studies in Perak following his parents’ job transfer to Ipoh last December.
This move became a major challenge for him, as he had to adapt to a new environment.
“Although I face challenges in adapting and socializing in a new environment, I remain motivated and resilient in continuing my studies.
“This is because I believe knowledge is very important for a better future,” he said.
Rahimi’s story reflects KKSS’s commitment to providing inclusive educational opportunities, in line with the aspirations of the Ministry of Higher Education to ensure access to education and skills training for all segments of society, regardless of background or individual challenges.
ASD refers to a condition in which a person experiences less noticeable autistic symptoms but still requires support due to difficulties in social communication and repetitive or restricted patterns of behavior that affect daily functioning.
Among the challenges faced are difficulties in social interaction, understanding non-verbal cues (such as body language), and initiating or maintaining conversations.
Individuals with ASD also tend to rely heavily on routines and face significant difficulties when routines are changed or when they are required to shift focus.
