IPOH: Visitors to the Tun Razak Library can now breathe a sigh of relief as upgrading works, including improvements to the air-conditioning system, will be carried out in stages starting this March.

In a reply statement on Wednesday, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) said that RM700,000 has been allocated through MBI’s development funds for this purpose.

According to the statement, the scope of work includes upgrading electrical wiring, the air-conditioning system, and toilet facilities to ensure visitors’ comfort.

“These upgrading works are expected to commence in March and will be carried out in stages to ensure that daily operations are not disrupted.

“In addition, MBI is also carrying out periodic cleaning of the fountain from time to time as part of ongoing maintenance efforts to ensure that cleanliness and the aesthetic appeal of the urban environment are well maintained.

“MBI is committed to ensuring that public facilities and urban infrastructure are always maintained at the best possible level for the well-being of city residents,” the statement added.

Previously, the media reported public complaints claiming that facilities at the library needed improvement for the comfort of visitors.

Among the main issues raised was malfunctioning air-conditioning on certain floors, causing many visitors to feel uncomfortable and hot while carrying out activities there.

In addition, the public also highlighted issues with the fountain in front of the building, which was said to be mossy and in need of regular cleaning.
