Pedestrian Walkways Around PUO, STAR and Taman Cempaka Have Been Cleared

By Aida Aziz

IPOH: Cleaning and vegetation-cutting (devegetation) works were recently carried out along Jalan Musa Mahadi and Jalan Sri Cempaka, near Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) and Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR).

The locations include pedestrian walkways frequently used by the public, including students of PUO and the Perak Islamic Administration Institute (INTIM) who travel to Taman Cempaka.

In a statement today, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) explained that, in cooperation with Puncak Emas Infra Sdn. Bhd. (PEISB), it regularly carries out cleaning and devegetation works from time to time.

“MBI and PEISB consistently carry out these works on a periodic basis to ensure the cleanliness, safety and comfort of road users.

“The cleaning works were carried out on 18 January at the locations involved.

“They included the removal of grass, bushes and wild plants on paved surfaces or non-grassy areas within the road reserve,” the statement said on Wednesday.

MBI also hopes for public cooperation to ensure the smooth implementation of these works and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Previously, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic reported public complaints regarding the pedestrian walkways around PUO up to Taman Cempaka, which require cleaning and regular maintenance as they are used daily by students.

Among the complaints were rusty guardrails, overgrown grass, and tree roots that had grown large enough to damage the walkway in the area.
