IPOH: Perak recorded a 4.4 per cent growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2024, with its economic value reaching RM86.2 billion.
The achievement was further strengthened last year when state revenue collection in 2025 reached nearly RM1.5 billion, resulting in a surplus of RM85 million.
This figure is the highest in the state’s history, enabling Perak to record a surplus for four consecutive years.

Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, said the achievement proves that when systems function effectively and implementation is carried out with discipline, revenue can be increased consistently.
He expressed his gratitude for the achievement and congratulated all administrative personnel who worked tirelessly to make it a success.
However, he consistently reminded himself and all civil servants that success should not be a reason for complacency.
Therefore, to maintain the momentum of success, the Menteri Besar outlined five key focus areas for the Perak state government in 2026.
These focus areas include strengthening revenue and the sustainability of the state’s economy, resolving public complaints comprehensively, and digital transformation, including the use of data and artificial intelligence (AI) in public services.
“The public does not judge us based solely on slides or reports.
- “They judge us by the speed at which we act, the courage we show in making decisions, and our ability to solve their problems.
“As Menteri Besar, I do not demand perfection.
“I only hope that all of us can continue to work with sincere intentions, honest hearts, and a spirit of togetherness, for a prosperous Perak and the well-being of its people,” he said in his address at the Executive Talk Session and New Year 2026 Message with Perak state civil servants at the Casuarina Convention Centre, Meru, here.
The special session was attended by more than 500 participants, comprising members of the state government’s leadership machinery, heads of departments and agencies, as well as members of the State Legislative Assembly.
