IPOH, Feb 3 — The zakat fitrah payment rates in Perak for this year have been set at RM10, RM16 and RM25, in line with a decision by the Perak State Fatwa Committee.

Perak Deputy Mufti Datuk Zamri Hashim said the adjustment in the zakat rates was made based on current research findings related to the cost of living.

He said the rates were determined according to the price and types of rice commonly consumed by Muslims in the state.

“The RM10 rate is set for consumers of imported white rice and local 5 per cent super special rice, while RM16 is for brown rice, parboiled rice, herba ponni rice and fragrant rice or similar varieties.

“Meanwhile, those who consume basmati rice, Japanese rice (calrose), glutinous rice, red rice or similar types are subject to the RM25 rate,” he said.

He was speaking at a press conference during the announcement of the Zakat Fitrah Rate for 1447 Hijrah, corresponding to 2026, held at the Zakat Perak Al-Ridzuan headquarters here.

The Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk), through Zakat Perak Al-Ridzuan, has appointed 1,735 Assistant Amil Fitrah to facilitate zakat fitrah collection this year.

The public has been reminded to fulfil the obligation through the authorised Assistant Amil Fitrah appointed by MAIPk.

MAIPk also encouraged Muslims in Perak to pay their zakat fitrah early to ease distribution to those in need, particularly for those who meet the requirements.

Assistant Amil Fitrah will also use digital methods, including QR codes, to make payment easier.

Payment receipts will be issued digitally via email, while manual coupon collection methods will still be available through Assistant Amil Fitrah in all kariah across Perak.
