Unsatisfactory maintenance at Cherry Apartment Blocks A-B, water bills in arrears amounting to tens of thousands

By: Aida Aziz

IPOH, Feb 3 — Residents of Blocks A and B at Cherry Apartment, located at Bulatan Cherry along Jalan Tun Razak here, have claimed that the management has been negligent in handling cleanliness and maintenance matters at the premises.

A resident’s representative, Tarun, said there are 192 occupants in Blocks A and B. He alleged that despite paying a monthly maintenance fee of RM80, outstanding water bills had previously accumulated to tens of thousands of ringgit.

As proof, he said the Perak Water Board (LAP) had placed a banner notice on a possible water supply cut in front of the apartment.

He explained that the situation differs from Blocks C and D, which are managed by a different management body, where no such issues were reported and matters, including cleanliness, were handled efficiently.

Tarun added that the situation is further worsened by the area becoming a hotspot for dengue cases, with residents already infected with dengue and chikungunya.

“There are four blocks in this apartment. Blocks A and B are managed under one entity, while C and D are managed under another. There are no water bill arrears in Blocks C and D, and maintenance there is also not an issue.

“What is troubling for those of us living in Blocks A and B is that the management fee was increased last year from RM70 to RM80 per month, yet the maintenance here is in a very poor state.

“With rubbish not properly cleared, road conditions within the compound deteriorating, and the LAP arrears worrying residents of Blocks A and B.

“The management collects maintenance fees from residents in our blocks, so why are they not paying the water bills to LAP until a banner had to be put up here?” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.

Describing the management of Blocks A and B as unsatisfactory, he said they should listen to the voices and feedback of residents who have repeatedly raised issues concerning the property.

“We will hold a meeting with residents of the affected blocks to discuss the LAP arrears and various maintenance issues.

“The management of Blocks A and B only cleans the ground floor of the apartment. The internal roads are riddled with potholes and have not been repaired despite being reported,” he added.

Residents of the affected blocks are also hoping that the relevant authorities will step in to assist them after having to endure the long-standing issues.
