TAIPING: The Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) has carried out a clean-up operation at a so-called “rubbish house” in the Pokok Assam area following public complaints ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations.

The house was found to be storing excessive piles of waste, resulting in foul odours and environmental pollution in the surrounding area.

The situation also affected the comfort of nearby residents and traders, while posing potential public health risks.

According to MPT, multiple advisories, warnings and fines had previously been issued to the homeowner.

However, failure to comply with the directives led to enforcement action being taken.

“The clean-up operation was carried out firmly and professionally for the well-being of the local community.

“MPT stresses that the indiscriminate hoarding of waste is completely unacceptable.

“The local authority also warns that stricter action will be taken should the offence be repeated,” the council said in a statement.

The move reflects MPT’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safeguarding the rights of law-abiding members of the public.

Members of the public are reminded that urban cleanliness is a shared responsibility in ensuring a clean and healthy Taiping.
