IPOH — Security and surveillance in Jelapang town has been strengthened with the Testing and Handover Session of the CCTV System under the Blackspot Area Recovery Action Plan.
The initiative was carried out in conjunction with the Safe City Programme 2025 in Jelapang town by the Ipoh City Council (MBI).

Ipoh City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak reaffirmed MBI’s commitment to strengthening urban safety through a data-driven approach and strategic collaboration among multiple agencies.
According to him, the high-definition CCTV system supports continuous recording and assists enforcement and investigation efforts by MBI and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
“The session also included a technical briefing and system preview to ensure compliance with specifications and operational readiness.
“This implementation is the result of collaboration between MBI, PDRM, state government agencies and representatives of the local community,” he said in a statement.

The session also featured the presentation of the Safe City Programme 2025 Completion Report by Anis Zulaikha Ahmad Kamal and Izdihar Niszar Syafiq Sarlan.
Also present were Jelapang assemblyman Cheah Pou Hian and MBI councillor Twoon Kok Kay.
Based on index crime statistics from 2020 to 2025, Jelapang town has been identified as a high-risk area requiring integrated security intervention.
The installation of the CCTV system was implemented as a proactive measure to prevent crime and enhance monitoring of strategic locations.
MBI is confident that this initiative will increase residents’ sense of safety and serve as a benchmark for the expansion of the Safe City Programme in line with Ipoh’s aspiration to become a Smart and Prosperous City.
