IPOH — Previously, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic reported on an unattended house overrun with overgrown vegetation at No. 18, Dataran Pengkalan Barat 14, Taman Temara.
The report prompted a response from the Ipoh City Council (MBI), which issued a Notice to Abate Nuisance on January 26.

Following the notice, residents said the property owner cleared the grass and shrubs that had gone unattended for more than a year.
However, they claimed that discarded items and containers filled with stagnant water were not removed, despite these being the main breeding grounds for mosquitoes in the area.
“Regarding the abandoned house, the owner only cleared the overgrown vegetation. Other items, such as containers and discarded materials, were left unattended, and there is still stagnant water on the premises.
“There are still many Aedes mosquitoes in the area. The seven-day notice period has already passed. The authorities should have taken further action,” a resident said.

The resident further alleged that the house was previously rented out but is now unoccupied.
As such, residents hope the issue will be resolved promptly, as clearing grass alone is insufficient to address the mosquito and dengue problem in the area.
Previously, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic reported that for more than a year, residents of Dataran Pengkalan Barat 14, Taman Temara, were forced to contend with mosquito infestations and dengue risks due to an abandoned house overrun with vegetation.
The situation has not only posed risks to residents in the neighbourhood, but has also raised concerns among residents of the neighbouring Kampung Cempaka Sari.
