Do Not Hang Festive Decorations on Electrical Cables, Public Told

By: Zaki Salleh

IPOH: The public has been reminded not to install or hang Chinese New Year festive decorations on electrical cables or utility installations.

This is to prevent the risk of electric shock and other untoward incidents.

In a statement, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) stressed that such actions are not only dangerous but could also disrupt the electricity supply system in an area.

According to TNB, electrical cables and installations constantly carry high-voltage currents.

“Any contact or interference could lead to serious risks of electric shock, fire and property damage.

“The public is advised to place festive decorations in safe areas that do not come into contact with any electrical installations,” the statement said.

In this regard, the public is urged to play a collective role in maintaining safety by complying with the guidelines set.

Those who notice decorations installed on electrical cables or installations are encouraged to channel the information to TNB for further action.
