IPOH: Ipoh Padang is one of the most popular spots in the city, attracting crowds both day and night, especially those looking to exercise or enjoy recreational activities.
However, members of the public have voiced concerns that certain areas of the park are poorly lit at night, posing safety risks for visitors, particularly women.
A site inspection revealed several streetlights that are not functioning, while dense tree foliage adds to the darkness in some areas.

According to a visitor who was at the park for exercise, authorities should repair broken lights and increase illumination in hidden or dark spots.
“There are floodlights here, but they are insufficient to brighten some very dark areas. It can be dangerous for the public, especially since Ipoh Padang attracts many people at night.
“During school holidays, many parents bring their children here. We want to create a safe environment for everyone—brighter lighting reduces the risk of unwanted incidents,” he said.
He also urged the authorities to take the matter seriously to ensure that this major recreational destination remains well-maintained, thereby attracting even more visitors to Ipoh.
