IPOH: The dim condition at Ipoh Padang reported recently was caused by a power supply disruption in the area.

This was the response issued by Ipoh City Council (MBI) regarding the issue of insufficient lighting at Ipoh Padang, which was recently claimed to require better illumination for public safety.

“For information, on the date and time the issue was reported at Ipoh Padang, the location was in darkness due to a power supply disruption.

“MBI consistently conducts thorough inspections of the lighting system in the area to identify damaged or non-functioning lights, while also assessing the need for improvements from time to time.

“In addition, MBI has carried out maintenance, repair and enhancement works on the lighting system at the Ipoh Padang signage replica to ensure adequate illumination and guarantee the safety of visitors,” it said.

MBI also conducts periodic monitoring of public facilities, including the maintenance of street lights and floodlights, to ensure a conducive and safe environment for the public.

At the same time, it welcomes feedback and complaints from the public as part of its ongoing efforts to improve service delivery and manage Ipoh city effectively.

“MBI expresses its appreciation to the media and the public for their continued concern regarding the safety and well-being of public facilities in the city, particularly issues related to lighting at Ipoh Padang,” it added.

Recently, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic reported public complaints about the dark surroundings at Ipoh Padang, which raised concerns among those who frequently carry out exercise and recreational activities there, particularly women and children.
