A book launch, a community outreach initiative, and a forward-looking announcement took place at CST Auto Group in Greentown, Ipoh on February 11
The event marked the launch of The Legacy of the Perak Sultanate, a hardcover book documenting the history of the Perak Sultanate, alongside a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative involving welfare homes and the sharing of plans for an Electric Vehicle training hub in Perak.

The event drew members of the Malaysian Historical Society, historians, teachers, corporate figures and representatives from children’s welfare homes, along with invited guests from across the state.
The Legacy of the Perak Sultanate, written by author SA Peter, was introduced ahead of the Perak Sultanate’s 500-year milestone in 2028. Positioned as a prelude to the Perak500 commemoration, the book traces the history of one of Malaysia’s longest-standing royal institutions, focusing on leadership and responsibility across five centuries.

The book also highlights the role of the monarchy within the state’s development, offering readers a clearer understanding of history, identity, and the constitutional framework that continues to shape the nation.
Author SA Peter, a Royal Military College alumnus with over two decades at the New Straits Times, has also developed educational and heritage-based learning initiatives for schools. He described the book as a way to help younger Malaysians better understand their history and where they come from.
The publication also features exclusive narrative contributions by KT Pillai, and was published by Puan Rohaida Abdul Kahar of Six Sense Creative.

The launch was officiated by Emeritus Professor Datuk Dr Shad Saleem Faruqi, a leading constitutional law expert, who also addressed the audience on the importance of understanding Malaysia’s constitutional framework and history.
A book signing session followed, allowing guests to engage with the author.

The event also brought together representatives from four welfare homes. These included Persatuan Kebajikan Rumah Kurang Upaya (OKU), Pusat Jagaan Anak-Anak Yatim dan Miskin Nurul Iman, Praise Home, and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Pelangi Perak.
Essential items were presented to each home as part of the programme.
CST Auto Group, founded by Perak-born entrepreneur Dato’ PR Chandran and his wife, Datin Nancy, has supported welfare homes within the state for more than two decades, maintaining long-term involvement with local communities.

The event also included the announcement of plans to establish an Electric Vehicle training hub in Perak. The initiative is intended to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), preparing young people with practical skills as the automotive industry moves towards electric mobility.
For collectors and readers interested in this commemorative edition, copies are available at a special early bird price of RM89.99. Each hardcover copy carries its own serial number as part of a limited 500-copy print run (1528 to 2028), making it a keepsake book.
