MANJUNG — A total of 12 stray dogs were captured following incidents of individuals being bitten by stray dogs in residential areas and public places around Manjung.
The operation, carried out by the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM), was conducted on Wednesday starting at 10pm at the basketball court of Taman Rakyat Kampung Koh, Kampung Koh Public Market, Kampung Koh Public Park, as well as surrounding areas in Sitiawan.

“All dogs captured were handled in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set in line with animal welfare practices and the safety of personnel.
“This action was taken to reduce potential threats to the public and to address complaints received effectively and systematically,” MPM said in a statement.

It added that the operation was part of the council’s ongoing enforcement efforts to ensure public safety.
“MPM will continue to intensify monitoring and capture operations of stray dogs from time to time at identified locations.
“Enforcement action will be taken against pet owners found releasing or allowing their animals to roam freely, causing disturbances and posing threats to public safety,” the statement added.
