Child’s surgery postponed due to lack of funds

By: Zaki Salleh

BAGAN SERAI — Financial constraints have forced a couple, Muhammad Rizal Azlan and Siti Fatimah Sani, to postpone surgery for their youngest child, three-year-old Muhammad Mikail Rafanza.

Muhammad Mikail requires about RM6,000 for a surgical procedure to insert a metal plate in his knee.

The procedure is necessary to control bone growth, as one of his legs is shorter and his knee cannot be straightened.

The surgery, initially scheduled for March 10, has been postponed to June 16 as his father has yet to raise sufficient funds.

Since birth, Mikail has faced multiple complications, including spinal problems, a heart defect and the absence of a left kidney.

He is currently receiving follow-up treatment at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun and Hospital Taiping.

About RM1,100 is needed monthly for his medical requirements, including special tubes, metal dilators, specialised milk and ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) support shoes.

Members of the public who wish to help may channel contributions to the CIMB account number 7020181190 under the name of his father, Muhammad Rizal Azlan.

The family hopes for a ray of hope for Mikail.
