Politeknik Ungku Omar launches smart classroom

By Zaki Salleh

IPOH, March 5 — Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) marked a new milestone in the digital transformation of technical education with the launch of its smart classroom, the Apple Education Classroom.

The strategic initiative reflects PUO’s commitment to modernising its teaching and learning (PdP) ecosystem to align with global industry demands.

The Apple Education Classroom is the first programme of its kind at the institution and is housed at PUO’s Department of Information and Communication Technology.

The classroom can accommodate up to 30 students at a time in a digitally friendly environment.

Based on the iOS ecosystem, the Apple Education Classroom will serve as a creative incubation hub to produce digitally fluent and competent Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates.

Earlier, the Apple Education Classroom was officially launched by Deputy Higher Education Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim during a working visit.

Also present were Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education director-general Shamsuri Abdullah and PUO director Hajah Salmi Che Meh.

In addition to the launch of the smart classroom, the event also witnessed the introduction of an eBook titled Lensa Kepimpinan.

The work is a compilation of speeches by Dr Shamsuri during his tenure as PUO director, now digitised as a reference for future leadership.

The integration of digital elements demonstrates that technology not only encompasses technical aspects but also serves as a medium for disseminating leadership knowledge at the institutional level.

At the same event, appointment letters were also presented to the PUO Student Representative Council (JPP) for the 2026 session.
