IPOH: Efforts by the Perak State Museum Board to enliven the museum atmosphere through the Cahaya Ramadan @ Muzium Darul Ridzuan programme have been widely praised.
The initiative successfully attracted visitors from various segments of society, particularly the younger generation.
Held at Muzium Darul Ridzuan, the three-day programme, which began yesterday, features a range of engaging activities.
The initiative has also transformed the museum into a lively public gathering spot for people to spend their evenings during the month of Ramadan.

Among the activities organised were a Night at the Museum event, an iftar (breaking of the fast) gathering, congregational prayers, and spiritual busking performances.
Visitors were also treated to pop-up market stalls offering a variety of food and locally made products.
The programme received an encouraging response, especially after 9:30 pm, when many visitors arrived with family members and friends.
Many were keen to enjoy the unique night-time atmosphere within the museum grounds.
Apart from participating in the activities, visitors were also given the opportunity to explore an underground tunnel believed to date back to the wartime period, located within the museum compound.
The experience provided the public with a unique opportunity to better appreciate the state’s history and heritage.

Meanwhile, a replica of the traditional Rumah Kutai located behind the museum has been beautifully decorated in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
The area has since become a popular spot for visitors to capture memorable photographs and Raya-themed “outfit of the day” (OOTD) moments.
The initiative introduced by the Perak State Museum Board has successfully sparked interest among younger visitors to explore museums, proving that creative approaches can help bring heritage institutions closer to the new generation.
More initiatives of this nature should be organised in the future in efforts to elevate museums as spaces for knowledge, heritage appreciation and community engagement.
