BAGAN DATUK: Residents in Bagan Datuk and surrounding areas can now breathe a sigh of relief following the completion of a project to upgrade a narrow bridge at Simpang Masjid Al-Quro’.

The bridge connects Kampung Pasang Api to the main road and involves upgrading the existing structure, which previously had only a single two-way lane.

The old bridge has now been replaced with a new structure to improve capacity and enhance safety for road users at the main junction in Pekan Bagan Datuk.

Construction of the project began on Aug 8, 2024, with a planned implementation period of 24 months and an original completion date set for Aug 5, 2026.

However, the project was completed ahead of schedule on March 4, 2026, thanks to the close cooperation and strong commitment of all parties involved.

The construction cost amounted to RM2.1 million, lower than the original allocation of RM2.9 million.

With the completion of the new infrastructure, it is expected to improve road safety and ensure smoother traffic flow for motorists and residents.

The route also serves as an important link to several major road networks, including the Sultan Nazrin Shah Bridge and the West Coast Expressway (WCE).

The facility is also expected to ease the movement of residents while supporting development and economic activities in the Bagan Datuk area.

Earlier, the new route was officially launched by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
