The futsal court in Manjoi is used as a motorcycle parking, and residents are disappointed

IPOH: Previously, many residents and road users complained about congestion caused by customers parking along both sides of the road in Manjoi to visit a restaurant there. This time, the issue appears to be different.

It is understood that a complaint circulating on social media claims that a futsal court, typically used as a recreational spot by children in the evenings, has been converted into a motorcycle parking area for patrons of a restaurant that has gained notoriety in the area.

According to a post shared by a residents’ representative, Eddie, he personally visited the location together with Manjoi state assemblyman, Hafez Sabri.

They also inspected the condition of the court’s fence, which was found to be damaged and allegedly opened to allow motorcycles to enter and park inside.

Members of the public have also expressed disappointment over the situation, in addition to the recurring issue of unusual traffic congestion caused by vehicles parking along the roadside, effectively narrowing the road into a single lane at a dangerous bend.

“Sorry to say, but the restaurant has gone too far and seems to be focused only on making a profit. Previously, there was a parking space inside, but it has all been turned into dining areas — they call it a ‘healing’ space.

“We local residents have been patient every day. There is nothing wrong with doing business, but at least hire RELA personnel to manage the area. Now cars are parked near the bend and junction, and even the futsal court has become a parking area,” said one resident.

Another resident questioned how a public facility such as the futsal court could be allowed to be used as a parking space.

“We hope the court will be repaired and beautified again because it is used by residents in the surrounding area every day,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a response issued by Kampung Tengku Hussein village head Iqbal Dinzly, the restaurant had only rented the court for nighttime use until March 19.

“After March 19, it will return to its original use. The restaurant will bear all related costs. This is only temporary.

“For everyone’s information, the court is not used at night because the lights have not been functioning for a long time.

“An allocation to restore the lighting and fully utilise the facility has been proposed, but no approval has been received yet,” he said.
