IPOH: A car was found to have plunged into the river near Kinta Riverwalk in the early hours of Monday.
According to a trader in the area, he noticed the incident while closing his shop at about 2.30am.

He said rainy conditions, coupled with the extremely dark surroundings, made it difficult for him to clearly see whether there was still a driver or anyone inside the vehicle.
“The area is very dark. I almost didn’t notice that a car had fallen into the river and I’m not sure how it ended up in the water here.
“Several people tried calling out to the driver to get out of the vehicle, while others had already contacted the police to attend to the situation.
“Eventually, the car was submerged as the water rose up to the roof,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.

The trader, who has been operating in the area for a long time, also hoped that better lighting would be installed, especially given the dark conditions during rainy weather.
“As many can see, when it rains, the area becomes very dark. Only the lights from the Amusement Park illuminate this place, which can be dangerous for visitors,” he added.
