Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City (SMC) will organise a community health event, the SunMed Healthy Living Carnival 2026 on 26 April, from 10AM to 4PM at the SMC Tower D Lobby. Guided by the theme “Better Health. Better Life”, the event aims to promote healthy living, preventive healthcare and community wellbeing and encourage individuals and families to take practical steps towards improving their overall health and wellbeing, in a fun and engaging environment.
According to recent data forecasts, Malaysians’ general health and wellbeing state is concerning and faces substantial long-term challenges, notably noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) caused by lifestyle factors. Obesity rates are high, with over 2.85 million children (ages 5-19) anticipated to be overweight or obese by 2026, as well as more than 32.6% of adults. The prevalence of NCDs such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer is also increasing, making it a major concern in Malaysia.
In line with World Health Day in April, this Carnival aims to provide Malaysians the urgent need for preventive health practices, health education opportunities and promote the adoption of healthier lifestyle habits.
Tan Mei Shin, Senior Director of Business Development and Corporate Communications at Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City, said, “Here at SMC, our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our patients and community is at the heart of everything we do. Through our annual Health Carnival, we aim to empower fellow Malaysians to strengthen their immunity, maintain physical fitness, and embrace an active lifestyle. We hope that, by fostering these healthy habits, we will inspire individuals and communities to prioritise their wellbeing and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.”
Visitors will have access to a range of health screenings and assessments conducted by SMC’s Centres of Excellence, including Body Composition Analysis, Blood Glucose & Cholesterol Test, Postural Blood Pressure Test, Sit-to-Stand Endurance Test, and many more.
In addition, there will also be interactive and educational activities such as Lightning Reflex Challenge, Pickleball Challenge, Healthy Living Marketplace, hearing and cancer health awareness booths, flash quiz sessions and lucky draw segments.
SMC has recently been recognised once again as the top Malaysian hospital in the Newsweek World’s Best Hospitals 2026 ranking, marking the second consecutive year to receive the honour. The hospital was also named as the Hospital of the Year for the fifth year running, alongside the Smart Hospital Initiative of the Year at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026. These accolades reflect the hospital’s ongoing commitment in striving for clinical excellence and strengthening its global reputation in patient safety and measurable patient outcomes.
