KUALA KANGSAR – More than 3,000 residents in Mukim Chegar Galah, Sauk, have voiced their frustration after prolonged water supply disruptions that affected their Aidilfitri celebrations.
The problem is believed to have begun on 18 March following a water disruption notice issued by Lembaga Air Perak (LAP), involving 16 villages in the area.
Among the affected villages were Kampung Chegar Galah, Kampung Bendang Selinsing, Kampung Biong and several locations around Sauk.

According to residents, water supply was completely cut off from that date and continued through the festive period on 21, 22 and 23 March.
The situation created significant hardship for families who were preparing to celebrate the holiday together.
To make matters worse, residents claimed that no water tankers were deployed during the early days of the disruption to meet their daily needs.
It was only on 23 March that LAP tankers were finally sent to the affected villages to distribute clean water.

Residents also claimed that this was not the first time such issues had occurred, having faced similar disruptions during Aidilfitri last year and in 2024.
The repeated incidents have left many deeply disappointed, with residents hoping the matter can be resolved permanently.
They urged the authorities, particularly LAP, to be more responsive, transparent with information and proactive in preventing such disruptions in the future.
