Police Probe Viral Video of Cable Theft in Taman Pakatan Jaya

IPOH – Cable theft cases in Ipoh appear to show no sign of ending, with perpetrators becoming increasingly brazen.

Police are now investigating a viral TikTok video believed to show a cable theft incident in a residential area here.

The video, uploaded by the Utusan Melayu Plus (@utusanmelayuplusofficial) account, drew public attention after it depicted suspicious activities involving several individuals.

Checks revealed that the incident is believed to have occurred along Jalan Pakatan Jaya in Taman Pakatan Jaya, Ulu Kinta.

The suspects allegedly used a four-wheel-drive vehicle along with an MPV to pull the cables from the site.

Ipoh District Police Chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.

He also urged members of the public with information on the incident to come forward and assist investigations by contacting the nearest police station.

At the same time, the public is advised not to speculate on the case in ways that could disrupt the authorities’ investigation.
