TUALANG SEKAH — The road accident involving five cars and a motorcycle in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Tualang Sekah, Malim Nawar, was caused by a car veering into the opposite lane and hitting several vehicles parked by the roadside.
Kampar district police chief Supt Mohamad Nazri Daud said police detected a video uploaded by a Facebook user regarding the incident on Tuesday.
“The Facebook account ‘All Kamparian’ posted a video of the crash at this link: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18qbmx5hwo/.
“We confirm that a report was received regarding the accident which occurred on 31 March at about 6.42pm in front of the school,” he said.
Initial investigations showed the crash involved five cars and a motorcycle.
Based on early information, a Perodua Viva driven by a 31-year-old local woman with two children exited the roadside in front of SK Tualang Sekah and attempted to continue towards Malim Nawar town.
“Suddenly, a Proton Satria driven by a 59-year-old local man coming from the opposite direction collided with the front of the Viva, causing it to overturn.
“At the same time, the Satria hit a motorcycle ridden by a 19-year-old local woman, throwing her onto the road before she landed next to a Perodua Bezza driven by a 29-year-old woman,” he said.
Mohamad Nazri added that early investigation found no sign of intoxication in the Satria driver.
“The Facebook post claimed the crash was caused by the driver being drunk. However, observations of his behaviour and breath showed no smell of alcohol at all.
“Nevertheless, all investigation procedures, including urine tests and blood alcohol analysis, will still be conducted,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
He also urged the public not to jump to conclusions or spread unverified information that could disrupt public order.
