IPOH: School Liaison Officers (PPS) play a vital role as the link between police and schools in efforts to create a safe learning environment.
In line with this responsibility, the Perak PPS Empowerment Seminar 2026 was held, gathering 300 participants comprising PPS officers and school discipline teachers.

The programme was jointly organised by the Perak Police Contingent (PDRM) and the Perak State Education Department (JPN).
The seminar aims to strengthen cooperation between PPS officers and discipline teachers in managing student-related cases, while standardising procedures for handling disciplinary issues and juvenile cases.
It also provides exposure to legal aspects, intervention skills and the management of at-risk students, in addition to enhancing communication between the police and schools.

Throughout the programme, participants attended four lecture sessions covering juvenile crime, adolescent developmental psychology, case-handling procedures and the inculcation of noble values.
Speakers included DSP Nirmala Arumugan, Dr Tajuk Rosli Shuib, Deputy Public Prosecutor Amal Aziemah Abd Kohar, and Haji Asyraf Ismail.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin.
In his speech, Noor Hisam emphasised that the PPS role, introduced in 2018, serves as an essential link between PDRM and schools in addressing social problems among students.
He added that sustained cooperation between PPS officers and discipline teachers is crucial in ensuring a safe, conducive and unhealthy-activity-free school environment.
