IPOH: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, has commanded the government to strengthen the domestic economy, accelerate the energy transition, and preserve environmental sustainability in the face of global uncertainties.
His Royal Highness’s command was delivered while officiating the Opening Ceremony of the 15th Perak State Legislative Assembly Session at the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building.
His Royal Highness stated that the Malaysian economy recorded a growth of 5.2 percent in 2025; however, conflicts in West Asia have the potential to impact logistics costs and the nation’s economic stability.

Perak also recorded investments totaling RM15.75 billion involving 560 projects, as well as state revenue of nearly RM1.49 billion with account surpluses for four consecutive years.
This achievement has enabled the state government to allocate RM1.61 billion for 2026 expenditures, the highest in the state’s history.
His Royal Highness emphasized that innovation and digitalization, including the development of 5G networks and data centers, must be empowered to ensure the state’s competitiveness remains strong.

In the aspect of the environment, His Royal Highness supported measures such as the ban on single-use plastic bags and conservation efforts, including the establishment of the Perak Elephant Sanctuary Centre in Gerik.
His Royal Highness also stressed the importance of climate change mitigation, flood mitigation projects, and food security through the agricultural sector and the blue economy.
Furthermore, His Royal Highness expressed concern for former inmates, calling for them to be given a second chance through skills training and continuous support.
