Ipoh Parade Management Addresses Facility Maintenance and Escalator Replacement Plans

By KT Leong

Ipoh Parade Management acknowledges the concerns raised during the recent State Legislative Assembly sitting regarding the mall’s facility maintenance. They state that they wish to clarify that the full replacement of the escalators in question has always been a top priority, particularly as these units handle the mall’s heaviest foot traffic.

They assure the public that there are no structural issues affecting the escalators; the malfunctions are strictly mechanical. For public safety, the affected units have been completely cordoned off. While the mall features three main escalator landing areas, two of which remain fully operational, the pair located by the Ground Floor Information Counter have experienced significant mechanical fatigue due to the high volume of visitors. This occurred despite a comprehensive overhaul previously conducted in February 2020.

Nonetheless, they wish to inform the public that the procurement for the complete replacement of these escalators has now been finalised. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the project is estimated to take approximately 28 to 30 weeks to complete, in accordance with the schedule proposed by their appointed contractor. While extensive, this total replacement is essential to providing the high standards of safety and reliability.

Regarding reports of piping and air-conditioning leaks, the management stated that their internal maintenance team initiated immediate rectification works upon receiving feedback from tenants. Furthermore, major repair works are systematically managed and carried out by appointed professional contractors to ensure long-term longevity.

As a landmark in the heart of the city, Ipoh Parade remains fully committed to upholding the image of Perak’s tourism industry. They are working closely with all stakeholders and safety authorities to ensure that their shopping destination remains worthy of its reputation and its central role in the bustling hub of Ipoh.
