GOPENG: The Indian Settlement Lawan Kuda community has expressed its appreciation for the construction of a multipurpose hall, which has become an important facility for residents and community activities.
A multipurpose hall serves as a vital community hub, providing a venue for a wide range of activities, acting as a one-stop centre during emergencies, and fostering closer ties among residents.
The hall, which was completed three years ago, was built through the joint efforts of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) and the local community.
Gopeng MIC Division chief, Magendran Ramachandran, said the construction of the hall was a necessary initiative to provide a more comfortable and suitable space for community-based programmes and gatherings.
He made the remarks while officiating the Annual General Meeting of the Indian Settlement Lawan Kuda Association, which was held recently.
According to him, the project also received strong support and cooperation from former councillor Segar, together with MIC, in ensuring that the facility could be realised for the benefit of residents.
The meeting was chaired by association chairman Logendran Pulentran, who has played a significant role in strengthening unity within the community.
Magendran said the spirit of cooperation demonstrated by residents of Indian Settlement Lawan Kuda was commendable and had been a key factor in the success of various community development initiatives.
He added that the multipurpose hall not only serves as a centre for community activities but also helps strengthen social bonds among residents of all age groups.
At the same event, he congratulated Logendran on his appointment as chairman of the association and expressed hope that the new leadership would guide the organisation towards greater achievements in the future.
