Complaints lodged with IWK, but uneven manhole still left unrepaired

By Aida Aziz

IPOH: An uneven manhole along Jalan Raja Ashman Shah remains unrepaired, with residents claiming that no rectification or resurfacing work has been carried out by Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) despite repeated complaints.

The complainant expressed disappointment, alleging that the matter had been raised several times, including with a city councillor, but claimed that IWK has yet to take prompt action.

The issue involving the uneven manhole was previously highlighted by Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic, drawing responses from members of the public who agreed that the road condition at the location was unsatisfactory.

“Until today, there has been no action by IWK to resurface the manhole so that it is level with the road.

“Various complaints have been lodged, including with Ipoh City Council councillor Lam Yew Tatt. We were informed that the issue had been referred to IWK, but no action has been taken,” the complainant said.

He added that the condition of the road was poor and that the issue had persisted for a long time.

Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic previously reported public complaints over a manhole, believed to belong to IWK, that was not level with the road surface along Jalan Raja Ashman Shah.

Road users have urged IWK to carry out the necessary repairs, claiming the uneven manhole poses a safety hazard, particularly to motorcyclists.
