IPOH: The iconic IPOH sign, one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, has been removed to facilitate inspection and repair works by the Ipoh City Council (MBI).

In a statement, MBI said the sign is expected to be reinstalled in stages between Aug 4 and Aug 6, subject to weather conditions and progress of works at the site.

“MBI wishes to inform city residents that the iconic IPOH sign has been safely removed to allow inspection and repair works to be carried out.

“This measure is being taken to ensure that the structure and physical condition of the sign remain in good condition, safe and well maintained as one of the symbols of pride for Ipoh city,” the statement said.

MBI also sought the cooperation and patience of the public throughout the duration of the works.

“MBI remains committed to ensuring that public facilities and city landmarks are properly maintained for the safety, comfort and well-being of city residents,” it added.
