IPOH: A storm accompanied by strong winds in the early hours of Friday caused extensive damage to shops at Kinta Riverwalk after several trees were uprooted and fell onto the premises.
A trader there stated that almost all the shops in the area were damaged by the storm, alongside many large trees, previously identified as high-risk, that have now fallen to the ground.

According to the trader, the storm struck around 2 a.m. just as they were preparing to close their shops.
“You could say almost all shops were damaged by falling trees and strong winds. We have repeatedly raised concerns about the large, high-risk trees here, which could fall at any time due to their age.
“It is hoped that the authorities will trim or fell the trees that pose a risk to the public, as storms occur frequently here and are dangerous to visitors,” the trader told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.
The trader added that cleaning personnel from the Ipoh City Council (MBI) have begun removing and clearing the fallen trees in the area.
