BATU GAJAH: Keeping chickens in residential neighbourhoods is prohibited as the activity can create unpleasant odours and cause discomfort to nearby residents, the Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG) said.
To address the issue, the council has been conducting site inspections in response to public complaints about chicken rearing in housing areas.
An MDBG spokesperson said the inspections were carried out to assess conditions at the locations, obtain accurate information and take appropriate enforcement action in accordance with existing laws.
As an example, the council recently visited a location in the Batu Gajah area following an official complaint submitted through the Public Complaints Management System (SISPAA).
“MDBG would like to remind the community that rearing chickens in residential areas is not permitted.
“We appreciate the cooperation of all residents in complying with the regulations and respecting the rights and comfort of their neighbours to maintain a clean, safe and harmonious living environment.
“Any complaints related to cleanliness, pollution or public nuisance can be submitted through the Public Complaints Management System (SISPAA) to enable MDBG to take the necessary action,” the spokesperson said.
