IPOH – Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Saravanan Shanmuggam has been appointed as the new Taiping District Police Chief.
He succeeds ACP Abdul Malek Ismail, who recently retired after serving 40 years in the police force.
Saravanan previously served as the Deputy Kuala Muda District Police Chief with the rank of Superintendent.
The rank-pinning and handover ceremony was officiated by Perak Police Chief, Dato’ Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin.
The ceremony was held at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess in Ipoh.
Also held during the ceremony was the promotion ceremony for ACP Mohd Ridzuan Nor Ihsan, who will assume the position of Perak Criminal Investigation Department (Commercial Crime) Chief.
In his speech, Mohd Alwi congratulated Mohd Ridzuan and Saravanan on their promotions.
He also welcomed Saravanan as the new Taiping District Police Chief.
Mohd Alwi expressed hope that Saravanan would continue to demonstrate excellent leadership in strengthening the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM)’s service delivery to the community.
