IPOH: Repair works on a sinkhole along Jalan Fair Park, near BMC Hotel here, were carried out today by Mangkubumi Sdn Bhd.

An Ipoh City Council (MBI) spokesperson said the council had taken note of a report published recently by Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic regarding public complaints about the damaged road.

“MBI takes note of the complaint regarding the damaged road or sinkhole along Jalan Fair Park, near BMC Hotel.

“For the record, repair works at the location were carried out by Mangkubumi Sdn Bhd on September 5, 2026, to address the damage and ensure the safety and comfort of road users.

“MBI appreciates the concern shown by members of the public who provide information regarding damage to public infrastructure.

“Public cooperation in reporting any damage is very helpful in enabling coordination and repair works to be carried out more effectively.

“MBI will continue to monitor the condition of the location from time to time to ensure the route remains safe for use,” the spokesperson said in a statement today.

Previously, Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic reported public complaints regarding a relatively deep sinkhole along Jalan Fair Park.

An Ipoh resident known as Belle said the sinkhole had only been cordoned off with traffic cones as a warning, while the road had also been reduced to a single lane for vehicles.

She said the situation was dangerous, particularly at night, as it could potentially lead to accidents if motorists were not alert.
