Yayasan Ipoh will host the third series of its chess tournament on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at its premises in Ipoh, Perak. Players will compete for the Dato’ Dr. Ramanathan Challenge Trophy.
The competition features a rapid chess format with 15 minutes plus a 5-second increment per move, aligned with Malaysia Games (SUKMA) standards. It consists of two pairing sections: Open and Under-12 (U12).
The event is open to players of all skill levels, including school students, club representatives, veterans aged 55 and above, and experienced players. Registration is free for persons with disabilities (OKU), who are required to upload their OKU card upon registering to assist organizers in providing suitable playing facilities.
Cash prizes and medals will be awarded across multiple categories. The Open category winner will receive RM300, with cash prizes extending through eighth place. Additional prize divisions include Best OKU (top three male and female players), Best Veteran, Best Lady, U12, and Best Under-9 (U9).
Discounted early bird registration rates are available until Sept. 25, 2026, set at RM30 for the Open category and RM20 for U12 and U9 categories. After Sept. 25, entry fees increase to RM35 and RM25, respectively.
