Emotional Intelligence Workshop Helps Pupils Manage Feelings and Thoughts

By Zaki MS

IPOH – SJKT St Philomena Convent, Ipoh, organised an Emotional Intelligence and ACT Workshop themed “My Feelings, My Thoughts, My Choices” to help pupils manage their emotions and thoughts.

The workshop, held today, was conducted by lecturer Ramesh Kumar Ramachandren.

The programme aimed to develop emotional awareness, self-control, positive thinking, empathy and resilience among pupils.

Various engaging activities, including games, discussions and role-playing, were conducted to enhance pupils’ understanding.

ACT, or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, is an approach that helps individuals accept difficult feelings and manage their thoughts more effectively.

Through this approach, pupils were exposed to the importance of making choices and taking action based on positive values and goals.

Pupils also learned that while they may not be able to control every feeling and thought, they can choose how to respond.

The workshop involved Level Two pupils from 8 am to 10 am.

Meanwhile, Level One pupils attended the programme from 10.30 am to 12.05pm.

The workshop is expected to help pupils build self-confidence and manage their emotions in their daily lives.

The skills learned can be applied at school, at home and when interacting with others.
