GOPENG: Bird droppings, lighting and facilities are among the main issues at Gopeng Bus Station that need to be addressed to ensure greater comfort for the public.
Teja assemblyman Sandrea Ng said her recent visit to the bus station was aimed at seeing the conditions there first-hand, as well as engaging with representatives of the local taxi drivers’ association.

She said that regarding the bird droppings issue, the Kampar District Council (MDKpr) had previously carried out cleaning works several times and installed netting along the ceiling, which had helped reduce the problem.
“Gopeng Bus Station is an important public transport facility for residents and visitors to Gopeng.
“Therefore, cleanliness, comfort and facilities at the station must always be given attention.
“Recently, I visited Gopeng Bus Station to look into several complaints received, particularly regarding bird droppings, lighting and facilities around the station.
“For a long-term solution to the bird droppings problem, MDKpr plans to upgrade the station’s ceiling, subject to additional funding that needs to be applied for.
“Meanwhile, the issue of inadequate lighting at the station is also being addressed, with replacement works already underway during my visit,” she said.

She also met with representatives of the taxi drivers’ association there to hear about several of their needs, including the maintenance of facilities in the rest area and cleanliness of the surrounding area.
“Several of these matters will be addressed one by one. What is important is that every complaint received is looked into on the ground and solutions are sought together with the relevant parties,” she added.
