IPOH – Two mosques in Perak have received recognition at the 2026 Best Toilet Awards (TOTYA’26) under the house of worship category.
Masjid Nurul Salam in Gerik emerged as the first-place winner, while Masjid Al-Badr Seribu Selawat in Pulau Pangkor secured third place.
Meanwhile, Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendidikan Khas Taiping won second place in the school category.
First-place winners received RM20,000 in cash prizes along with a trophy at the award presentation ceremony held at Pavilion Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur.

The awards were presented by Housing and Local Government Minister, Nga Kor Ming.
In his speech, he said TOTYA 2026 recorded 849 entries, representing a 146 percent increase from the 345 entries received in 2023.
He said the awards recognise the outstanding efforts of various organisations in providing public toilets that are clean, attractive, fragrant, comfortable and safe.
He also announced a new allocation of RM150 million for the 2026–2030 period to upgrade, repair and maintain public toilets owned by local authorities (PBT) nationwide.

The initiative aims to strengthen a culture of cleanliness and improve the quality of public amenities as a reflection of the country’s image and well-being.
Besides the school and house of worship categories, TOTYA 2026 also covers hotels, petrol stations, local authorities, shopping malls, restaurants, and rest and recreation (R&R) areas.
