IPOH: Thirteen abandoned and deteriorating cars parked along roadsides in Taman Cempaka here are disrupting traffic flow and spoiling the neighbourhood’s appearance, prompting residents to urge Ipoh City Council (MBI) to take immediate action.
A residents’ representative, known as Amran, said the vehicles, whose owners were unknown, were scattered around Persiaran Cempaka Sari 2 and Persiaran Cempaka Sari 4.
He claimed that complaints had previously been lodged with MBI through its MyAduan system, but the council had only placed notices on the vehicles without carrying out towing operations.

He said many of the abandoned cars had been left there for between two and four years, causing various problems, including potentially becoming breeding grounds for pests.
“There are many abandoned and deteriorating cars along the roadsides at Persiaran Cempaka Sari 2 and Persiaran Cempaka Sari 4, with no known owners.
“I have lodged complaints with MBI repeatedly, but its officers only come to place notices on the vehicles. Even after six months, no action has been taken, and no towing operation has been carried out here,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.

Amran urged the local authority to tow away the vehicles if they remained unmoved within the stipulated period.
He stressed that the situation should not be taken lightly, as the abandoned cars could attract venomous animals and pose a fire risk due to their ageing components being exposed to extreme weather conditions.
“Residents here hope MBI will take immediate action to tow away the abandoned cars. They make the roads narrower, and it is an eyesore to see so many vehicles left to deteriorate for years,” he added.
