New Facilities Upgrade to Kopisan Indian Cemetery

By Aida Aziz

GOPENG: A new water storage tank and a larger, more comfortable cremation shelter have been built to improve facilities at the Kopisan Indian Cemetery here.

Teja assemblywoman Sandrea Ng said proper basic facilities were essential to ensure community needs could be met more conveniently and comfortably, including at the cemetery grounds.

“Previously, the water supply facilities at the Kopisan Indian Cemetery were limited, making daily activities and maintenance of the grounds more challenging.

“To address the issue, a water storage tank has been built, along with the installation of pipes to facilitate access to water throughout the area.

“Meanwhile, the existing cremation shelter was about 70 years old. A new, larger shelter with more suitable facilities has therefore been built beside the old structure to provide a more comfortable space for the local community,” she said.

Sandrea said both improvements were carried out using an allocation from Gopeng MP Tan Kar Hing as part of ongoing efforts to meet the needs of the local community.

“I hope these new facilities will provide long-term benefits to the Indian community in Kopisan and make their arrangements easier in the years ahead,” she added.
