IPOH – A total of 200 participants attended the 2026 Perak State Local Authority (PBT) Councillors’ Colloquium held at Galasa Caldwell here on 29 October.
The colloquium aimed to strengthen governance and improve the effectiveness of service delivery by local authorities to the community.

Perak Housing and Local Government Committee Chairman, Sandrea Ng Shy Ching, said local authorities must balance public needs with compliance with administrative procedures.
She said every challenge should be addressed through alternative solutions and priority-setting based on careful planning.
She added that the state government also takes into account feedback from local authorities in efforts to improve the scope and implementation methods of road maintenance.

The colloquium also placed emphasis on the management of allocations under the Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS).
Local Government Division Secretary, Mohd Zairasyahli Shah Zakaria, said a clear understanding of procedures and guidelines was essential to ensure projects were implemented systematically.
He said all development plans and road repair works must be carried out transparently and in compliance with audit requirements.

The programme also featured a briefing on MARRIS allocation management and a technical session on road management and maintenance.
The colloquium is expected to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of local councillors in strengthening the quality of services delivered to the public.
