The services of firefighters were needed to help extricate a child who was locked in a car on Sunday.

A spokesman for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in Perak said the 1-year-old boy was locked in the car while his mother was loading items into a Hyundai-type vehicle after shopping at a supermarket.

According to him, his party received a call regarding the incident at 8.48 pm, before members of the Seri Manjung Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) rushed to the location.

“The firemen used special equipment to open the door of the car and then handed the victim over to his guardian,” he said today.
