IPOH: More than 150 participants took part in a fishing competition held in conjunction with the 37th Anniversary Celebration of Ipoh City Day at Gunung Lang Recreational Park today.
The competition began promptly in the morning, with the Mayor of Ipoh, Zamakhshari Hanipah, officiating the event by symbolically setting off the participants.
Also present were the City Secretary, Ahmad Munir Ishak, along with heads of departments from the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
In a statement, MBI said the competition was not only held to enliven the city’s anniversary celebration but also served as a platform to strengthen social bonds.
“It helps to foster unity and promote a healthy lifestyle among Ipoh residents,” the statement said.
The statement added that MBI hopes such activities will continue to receive encouraging participation.
“In addition, it is hoped that this event will become one of the annual highlights anticipated by the local community as a symbol of togetherness and love for the city,” it said.
