IPOH: In celebration of Malaysia’s 68th Independence Day, the Ipoh Shitokai Ryu Association will organize a karate competition on August 23 at AEON Mall Falim.

The one-day event is expected to attract over 300 participants, including competitors from various states across the country.

This program not only showcases the skills and discipline of martial arts, but also serves as a platform to ignite patriotic spirit among the younger generation.

The president of the Ipoh Shitokai Ryu Association, R. Arunasalam, said the competition is held to commemorate Independence Day and to honor the sacrifices of national heroes.

“Today, we live in peace and harmony thanks to the struggles of our national warriors who defended our country’s sovereignty.

“Through this competition, we aim to instill love for the nation among the participants, while also giving them the opportunity to display their talent in karate,” he said.

He added that this annual karate competition has become a tradition for the association and continues to receive an overwhelming response every year.

Holding the event in a public venue like AEON Mall is also expected to draw public interest and encourage the community to take an interest in martial arts and healthy living.
