IPOH: Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) is set to organise Malaysia Clean-Up Day (HCM) 2025 this Saturday, with activities taking place simultaneously across the country.

In Perak, the initiative will be implemented by all local authorities (PBT), with clean-up programmes scheduled at various locations.
These include Dataran Sungai Perak in Kuala Kangsar, several sites in Teluk Intan (Jalan Merbok, Taman Teluk Intan, Taman Desa Maju Perak Langkap, Taman Desa Bernam Hutan Melintang, and Taman Melor), as well as Taman Kinta Gopeng in Kampar.
Other areas involved in the campaign include Laman Komuniti Batu Gajah, Taman Seroja in Slim River, Taman Slim Indah, Bandar Baru Slim River, and Surau KMP1 in Kota Malim Prima.
This year, HCM 2025 is setting ambitious goals by attempting to achieve two new records in the Malaysia Book of Records.
The first is for the largest nationwide gotong-royong (communal clean-up) with the participation of 100,000 people.
The second is for the most used cooking oil collected in a single day, targeting 3,000 kilograms.
The programme will see collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and local communities.
It follows a ‘whole-of-nation’ approach, promoting comprehensive involvement in maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
In a statement, KPKT said the used cooking oil collected will be converted into biodiesel, supporting Malaysia’s shift towards renewable energy use and helping to reduce environmental pollution.
“We encourage active participation from organisations nationwide, whether as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives or a commitment to sustainable development,” the ministry said.
Malaysia Clean-Up Day was introduced as part of efforts to raise civic awareness among citizens regarding environmental cleanliness, while also encouraging a spirit of cooperation across all levels of society.
